how did ancient sailors navigate the globe

Answers

Answer:

The earliest navigation methods involved observing landmarks or watching the direction of the sun and stars. Few ancient sailors ventured out into the open sea. Instead, they sailed within sight of land in order to navigate. When that was impossible, ancient sailors watched constellations to mark their position.

Explanation: here hope it will help

To explore the world, Ancient sailors used a variety of methods and equipment. They employed dead reckoning, landmarks, flora and fauna, sea navigational aids, and celestial navigation to find their location and direction.

For early civilizations to create trade routes, discover new territories, and communicate with people on the other side of the globe, these methods, and instruments were crucial.

The earliest forms of navigation relied on landmark observation or keeping an eye on the position of the sun and stars. Few sailors in the past dared to sail on open waters. Instead, they navigated by sailing in sight of shore. When it was not possible, early seafarers used the constellations to determine their whereabouts.

What is human migration?

Migrations can be divided into a number of categories. We can first distinguish between domestic and foreign migration. Individuals and families move within any nation from one location to another (for instance, from rural to urban areas), which is different from international migration. Second, migration can be forced or voluntary.

The majority of voluntary movement, whether internal or external, is done in search of better employment or housing prospects. People who have been forcibly transferred as slaves or prisoners or who have been ejected by governments during war or other political upheavals typically make up forced migrations. The voluntary movements of refugees fleeing war, famine, or natural calamities are in between these two types.

SAQQARA, Egypt. An ancient Egyptian burial site called Saqqara is over 4,000 years old, but much of the area has yet to be discovered. The sizeable area was a burial site for the rulers of ancient Memphis. Memphis was the capital of the Old Kingdom. For this reason, each new find is a marvel. Recently, officials unearthed two amazing discoveries at Saqqara.

A Lost Pyramid

Believe it or not, it's possible to lose a giant pyramid. It can be buried under sand over thousands of years. In November 2008, archaeologists discovered a pyramid under the sands of Saqqara. Since then, officials have determined that the 4,300-year-old pyramid belonged to Queen Sesheshet.

A team led by Zahi Hawass had been digging at the location for two years. That's when they determined that what they had found was the base of a pyramid. Only 16 feet (about 5 meters) of the pyramid remains standing. Until officials dug it out, it had been buried under 65 feet (about 20 meters) of sand.

"There was so much sand dumped here that no one had any idea there was something buried underneath," said Hawass.

Archaeologists also found parts of the pyramid's white limestone casing. The limestone is believed to have covered the entire pyramid. After studying the casing, archaeologists determined that the complete pyramid was once 45 feet (about 14 meters) high.

Once they had uncovered the pyramid, scientists set about learning more about it. Using an air brush, one worker cleaned sand from stunning carvings on the white limestone casing. Meanwhile, archaeologists studied the carvings. The drawings tell stories of ancient Egypt. They may help uncover the mysteries of the pyramids.

In January, archaeologists entered the burial chamber inside the pyramid. They found the mummy of Queen Sesheshet. The queen's son Teti became an Egyptian king.

"To find a new pyramid is always exciting," said Hawass. "And this one is magical. It belonged to a queen."

The find is important because it adds to the understanding of ancient Egypt. It tells about the time from 2,322 BCE to 2,151 BCE. This was a time when Egypt made advances in agriculture and became very rich. At the end of this time, however, the riches came to an end. Soon, the Old Kingdom would fall.

What Tombs Tell Us

Saqqara is a source of endless wonder. In December 2008, archaeologists uncovered a pair of 4,300-year-old tombs near Queen Sesheshet's pyramid. The discovery shows that the burial site of Saqqara is even larger than once thought.

"… The two tombs are the beginning of a big, large [burial ground]," said Zahi Hawass.

Archaeologists studied the burial chambers. They determined that the tombs were built for high officials. One tomb describes the man for whom it was built. The second tomb includes carvings and a drawing of a seated woman.

Archaeologists are not especially interested in the tombs themselves. Why not? The tombs were not built for kings. Instead, the archaeologists are concentrating on what the tombs tell them.

"This [discovery] means the royal [burial ground] is bigger than we thought," said Saleh Suleiman. Suleiman is the archaeologist who uncovered the two tombs.

Aidan Dodson is an archaeologist. Dodson was not involved in the dig. However, Dodson said that the discovery shows that there are other areas waiting to be explored.

"It shows that the blank areas of the maps of Saqqara aren't really empty at all. It's just that archaeologists haven't [gotten around] to digging them," Dodson said.

Digging has been going on at Saqqara for about 150 years. This work has uncovered pyramids, tombs, and other burial areas mostly from the Old Kingdom. Yet past digs have concentrated on just one area. The area where the latest discoveries were found has been largely untouched.

According to Hawass, only 30 percent of Egypt's monuments have been uncovered. The rest are still under the sand.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.

Living in Northern Europe would be highly beneficial and tough as well.

Today, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden are the countries that are generally considered to form the Northern Europe.

Education in Europe is pretty different from the style that we follow in India. In India we are forced to study all types of subjects and our syllabus is huge. While in Europe, children are given the freedom to choose few subjects only or study about whatever they wish to from an early age.

Health Care in North European countries are way more advanced and better than India. People will surely benefit a lot from there. Advanced medicine and technology will help in quicker recovery.

The mindset of people in Europe is pretty different than Indians so benefit programs will be carried out well and help many people.

Boy, I bet he was picked on as a kid." "You're Aceswhat kind of title is that?" Neville asked. "The play takes place in the 1920s, Neville," replied Pola irritably. "People used catchphrases like that back then. It means 'You're the best.' " "If the play takes place in the past, why are the main characters fighting giant evil robots in the third act?" asked Nadezhda. Gerhardt and Neville gasped in surprise and started reading the script with renewed interest. "Cool! I get to fire a laser gun," bragged Neville. "Oh, man!" Gerhardt groaned. "My character gets killed at the end of Act III. Death scenes are the worst." "Quit complaining, everyone," exclaimed Pola. "I had to write this by myself in two days while working a full-time job. It may not be Shakespeare, but it's good enough for community theater. I think we should just do the best we can with what we've got." "That's a terrible attitude," Nadezhda said. "The proceeds from this play will be donated to charity, and I think we should try our hardest to give people their money's worth. Why don't we all work together to write a new script?" "Fine!" Pola yelled. "I'll let you guys take over the play, and I'll save my efforts for people with better taste in entertainment." The three actors watched in amazement as Pola stomped out of the theater. "Whoops," said Nadezhda with an embarrassed smile. "I forgot that she hates for anyone to question her talent as a writer." "I'm just sad I won't get to wear a jet pack and use phrases like 'You're the bees' knees,' " Neville laughed. "I thought doing a death scene was bad," said Gerhardt. "If we don't get a script put together by tonight, we'll all be in serious trouble." Nadezhda grabbed a notebook from her purse. "This will be a snap," she said confidently. "What's a good topic for a play?" "I know!" declared Gerhardt. "Neville and I will be lawmen sent from the future who try to stop a giant monster from destroying Dubuque, Iowa." "Well, it is original," Nadezhda replied slowly. "But how would we create a giant monster on our $10 prop budget?" "Good point," admitted Gerhardt. "Here's an idea," said Neville. "What if Gerhardt and I play Elvis and Abraham Lincoln, who have been brought back to life by scientists. We use our skills to defend the president, played by Nadezhda, from the cast of the musical Cats, who have been turned into vicious zombies." Neville's voice trailed off as he realized that both Nadezhda and Gerhardt were staring at him with their mouths open. "That's very ambitious," Nadezhda finally said. "I think it would be a little difficult for three people to perform onstage, though." "You're probably right," said Neville. "I hate to say it, but our ideas are terrible," Gerhardt remarked. "What are we going to do?" The three actors dashed off the stage and hurried outside. "She's over by her car!" exclaimed Nadezhda. "Let's go get her. I'm not too proud to beg; are you guys?" "No way," replied Gerhardt. "As far as I'm concerned, death scenes are the bees' knees." 8. Which of the following contributes to the conflict in the passage? A.
