What was a cause of the Mexican-American War?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

The Mexican–American War, also known in the United States as the Mexican War and in Mexico as the Intervención estadounidense en México, was an armed conflict between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848. It followed the 1845 U.S. annexation of Texas, which Mexico considered Mexican territory since the Mexican government did not recognize the Velasco treaty signed by Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna when he was a prisoner of the Texian Army during the 1836 Texas Revolution. The Republic of Texas was de facto an independent country, but most of its citizens wished to be annexed by the United States. Domestic sectional politics in the U.S. were preventing annexation since Texas would have been a slave state, upsetting the balance of power between Northern free states and Southern slave states. In the 1844 United States presidential election, Democrat James K. Polk was elected on a platform of expanding U.S. territory in Oregon and Texas. Polk advocated expansion by either peaceful means or by armed force, with the 1845 annexation of Texas furthering that goal by peaceful means. However, the boundary between Texas and Mexico was disputed, with the Republic of Texas and the U.S. asserting it to be the Rio Grande River and Mexico claiming it to be the more-northern Nueces River. Both Mexico and the U.S. claimed the disputed area and sent troops. Polk sent U.S. Army troops to the area; he also sent a diplomatic mission to Mexico to try to negotiate the sale of territory. U.S. troops' presence was designed to lure Mexico into starting the conflict, putting the onus on Mexico and allowing Polk to argue to Congress that a declaration of war should be issued. Mexican forces attacked U.S. forces, and the United States Congress declared war.

African-American labor songs and European-American folk music served as the foundation for the blues, a musical genre created by African-Americans in the Southern United States around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

What is music?

Music is defined broadly as the act of arranging sound to produce some combination of form, harmony, melody, rhythm, or other expressive elements. Exact definitions of music differ greatly around the world, despite the fact that it is a component of all human communities, a cultural universal.

The oppositional voice that resisted being suppressed by discrimination and oppression was expressed through blues music. The Blues did so with simplicity, honesty, and clarity never before seen. It was not intended to be political as a raw, sincere expression of personal

Feelings, but instead, it evolved into a statement of community and solidarity that fueled African American social movements, inspired young people and cultural minorities around the world, and entered the mainstream of popular music.

Therefore, The blues, a musical genre, was founded on European-American folk music.

We, the people of the Choctaw Nation, having a right to establish our own form of Government, not inconsistent with the Constitution, Treaties and Laws of the United States: by our Representatives, assembled in Convention at Nanihwaiya on Thursday the tenth day of November, 1842, in order to establish Justice, insure Tranquility, promote the general Welfare, and secure to ourselves and our Posterity the right of Life, Liberty and Property: We mutually agree with each other to form for ourselves a free and independent Government.

And we do hereby recognize the boundaries assigned the Choctaw Nation by the second article of the treaty made and concluded with the United States of America at Dancing Rabbit Creek on the 27th day of September 1830: viz. beginning near Fort Smith where the Arkansas boundary crosses the Arkansas River, running thence to the source of the Canadian Fork, if in the limits of the United States, or to those limits, thence due South to Red River, thence down Red River to the western boundary of the State of Arkansas, thence North along that line to the beginning: the boundary of the same to be agreeable to the Treaty made and concluded at Washington City in the year 1825.

The Declaration of Independence was designed for multiple audiences: the King, the colonists, and the world. It was also designed to multitask. Its goals were to rally the troops, win foreign allies, and to announce the creation of a new country. The introductory sentence states the Declaration’s main purpose, to explain the colonists’ right to revolution. In other words, “to declare the causes which impel them to the separation.” Congress had to prove the legitimacy of its cause. It had just defied the most powerful nation on Earth. It needed to motivate foreign allies to join the fight.
